How to Give Your Home Bar An Inexpensive Upgrade
---
We recently moved into a new house, and so I thought it would be a great time to take our bar situation from looking like a college collection to more of a sophisticated, chic set up.
Here's what we were starting with:
Not very attractive, not very convenient, and sort of that university apartment vibe. Not what we are going for!
Awesomely enough, our new house has an actual bar, but if it didn't, I would create a nice little bar set up on our dining room buffet or a moveable bar-cart.
Things you could add to fancy up your bar set up:
1. A tray. Everything looks better on a tray doesn't it? It takes this area from disorganized, to tidy and well styled.
2. A decanter! Not every alcohol needs to be stored in a decanter, especially if you have a large collection, but it really is a nice touch for a special bottle or something you drink and serve often. It elevates your cocktail-making area and gives a bit of that traditional sophistication.
This Lighten Life Whiskey Decanter has a gorgeous pattern, won't break the bank, and -get this- is DISHWASHER SAFE. I have never heard of a dishwasher safe crystal decanter, and anything that reduces the amount of hand washing is a good fit for our family.
This would make a great gift for your husband, father, grandfather, father in law, brother, or whoever for Valentine's Day, a birthday, Father's Day, or Christmas.
3. Fancy cocktail napkins. Not strictly necessary, but always very cute.
4. Bar accessories. We don't usually make shaken drinks or ones that require these, but if you do, a nice set of bar accessories is a great idea.
5. Small cutting board and knife for citrus garnishes
Here is how our new set up came out! I wouldn't say the bar area is 100% complete, but it is definitely an improvement on our former "above the cabinet" situation.
Do you have a neat bar set up in your home? I'd love to hear about it!
