6 Health Snacks I'm Loving Right Now
It's been awhile since I've written a list of healthy snacks. I compiled this one for nursing Moms back in 2014 for Disney Family (formerly Babble), and I've been wanting to share the delicious and healthy snacktime favorites that we've been enjoying recently!
Your version of healthy may differ from my version, but what I look for in a healthy snack is that it tastes good, has some protein, and is low carb. I eat plenty of carbs, I just try to look for low carb options for healthy snacks and meals. I -don't- eat diet food, I just go for the natural options that seem healthier.
1. Yogurt & Mango has become my all time recent fave. I like using frozen mangoes (you could also use frozen blueberries, cherries, or any fruit really).
2. Grapes & Cheese
3. Hummus and pretzels. Right now I'm loving roasted red pepper hummus, but plain is really good too.
4. Apple and PB. A classic, I still eat it all the time. I've actually been going through and trying all different kinds of varieties of apples. So far my favorites are Jazz and Sugarbee (sorry Honeycrisp). Do you have a favorite apple variety?
5. Banana + peanut butter on wheat toast. An oldie, but a classic go-to that my children love and will eat for breakfast.
6. Pretzels and peanuts are THE go-to Solomon family snack. Whenever we're running out the door, or someone is having a melt down, or hunger crash, we go for the pretzels and peanuts. They're simple, shelf stable, carbs + protein, and they work well for us.
