Easy Soft Sandwich Roll Recipe

This soft sandwich roll recipe comes together so easily, and one of the best parts to me is that I can add whatever toppings I like to the different buns so that some family members can have garlic rolls, some can have poppyseed, some can have plain, etc.

The dough is high hydration, which means it is a "wetter" dough than a normal dough recipe. This is great but it can be trickier to shape or knead the dough since it will tend to stick to your hands.

The tip to get around this is to dip your hands in a bowl of water, and whenever the bread starts to stick to your hands, dip them again. This way you'll be able to make very soft buns, and they won't be quite so sticky.

Breadmaking difficulty: Beginner to intermediate

Easy soft sandwich roll recipe:

2 c warm water
1 tbsp yeast
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp salt
6 c all purpose flour (or any white flour)
3 tbsp olive oil

Mix all ingredients together, knead for 5 min in a mixer or 10 min by hand.

Allow to rise in the bowl covered with a damp kitchen towel or Saran Wrap until the dough has doubled in size.

Shape into rolls! Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Allow to rise again about 30 min. Preheat oven to 450F

Bake until golden or until buns have an internal temperature of 195F.

Enjoy!

Note: before baking you may add any toppings you like. For a plain roll with a fancy look, just sprinkle with flour.

For seeds or spices, rub the top of the bun with oil so they stick.

We recommend rolls with: everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and garlic granules + parmesan cheese!
